2004-2005 News Updates
12/18/05 - Year End Bash @ Victor's - FACELIFT finished up 2005 with a strong performance at Victor's in Hawthorne. Nice, intimate club and great bartenders!! We were really able to stretch out and play some stuff that we don't usually get to do during our usual "Greatest Hits" Sets. Rotten Apple, Brother, Love Hate Love (With Joey kickin' a$$ on the vocals!!) Got to hang with some of our good friends - including Scott, Lorraine, Vicki and the guys from Callous. Much thanks to Mike for the invaluable roadie help!! Check out a few pics HERE. We already have a lot of dates lined up for 2006, but as we speak more are being booked. So keep checking back to the website for updates to the schedule. I should have some dates up before New Years. The guys in FACELIFT - Mike, Jimmy, Tony, Lou & Bobby would like to wish you all a very Happy & Safe Holiday Season. We'll see you all in 2006!!!!!!!!
12/4/05 - 'Batz Blast! - WHOO!! What an awesome night (again) at Dingbatz!!! Hopefully everyone got home safe in the snow! buck3eighty tore through a monsterous set of their best and a few new tunes - all of which are great!!! I can NOT stress to you all enough how much you need to see these guys. Great Rock - Great Vocals and dual/trading leads!!! They were followed by a trippy set from Blow Up Daisy. Our set was a bit unusual, we pulled out some stuff we haven't done in a while. Lou came up with the setlist - so you have him to thank for that. Then we had the honor of being joined by John Kosco (Dropbox/Saint Caine) on 'Would'. This guy has pipes for days, and can nail the spit out of any AIC tune!! And of course what Jersey show would be complete without Tommy joining us for a tune - always a pleasure brother! Now, there are so many people to thank that I think I'm going to end up naming almost every single person there but here goes: Dancin' Larry, GREG (sorry bro!), the Bitches formerly known as The MSB's (well Ms. D & Ms. E anyway!), Adrianne, Jenn, Lorraine & Mom, Lauren, Cherokee from "Calleradoh" (MTV in the house??), The "Naugatuck Connection" (You guys are CRAZY and we like that about you! We're coming to CT in '06 - I promise!!), Jess and her "friend" (Happy B-Day!), Patricia, and of course Rich, Matt, Kenny & Frank from buck3eighty - I'm REALLY sorry if I forgot anyone! Major props to TabuTShirts for the cool shirts they gave us to giveaway! Also gotta thank Freddie, Joey and Ant for their hospitality. We MUST thank Sarge for the fantastic job on the sound - he always makes us sound GREAT!!! And thanks for adjusting the camera I was filming the show with, you could always get into Directing if the music thing doesn't work out!! We'll be back at 'Batz in February '06! Our next show (and last of '05) is Saturday December 17th at Victor's in Hawthorne, NY. We'll be doing 2 long sets, so come on out and join us at this new venue! Keep checking back for more dates in 2006. FACELIFT is going on 12 Years strong and we are lining up dates in NYC, LI, CT & Many more!!!
11/13/05 - Big Mike's - Badder than ever! - What an AWESOME night! Of course it's always great to play close to home and to see some of our good friends out. And although the setup at the new Big Mike's could best be described as "intimate" the room still absolutely ROCKS! We were also able to pull out some somgs we don't normally get to do - QOTR, I Stay Away, Angry Chair and others. Gotta thank Bobby & Jimmy for doing PA duties. Then we have to thank all the friends who came out - Pasha (a.k.a. - My Son), Isabel (representing Branson!), Joy, Budgie, Andy and everybody else. Also have to thank Big Mike and the best bartenders around; Nicole and Mary, who also had a cake to make Joe's Birthday extra special! We'll see you all very soon at Dingbatz on December 3rd. Get there early for our good friends buck3eighty!
10/31/05 - Halloween Double Whammy!! - WHEW! Those double headers can be rough sometimes. But this weekend was a BLAST!! Plus it's been a while since we've played! Saturday night at Barney McNabbs was a great kickoff to a crazy weekend. Gotta give big thanks to the guys from Sanctuary for having us, and for helping out with the PA duties. Of course our good friends were there too: Dancin' Larry, Craig, Eddie (from A Perfect Tool), Tommy joining in on a song and the rest of the crazy crowd. And what about that couple dancing?!?!? I hope I can move like that when I get that age!! Then Sunday we made the trip down to Astoria, Queens for a Halloween Tribute Smash with Monkey Wrench doing the finest Foos and VS. doing the Pearl Jam show. Interesting room, too bad there weren't a few more people there. But everyone treated us great and we enjoyed playing billiards while listening to the bands. And although the crowd was a little light we still saw a good number of friends; Drew, Carol, Joanne sorry if I missed anyone! It was also cool to hang with the Monkey and VS guys - we're usually so busy setting up/getting ready that we rarely get to just hang out. Our next show will be back in Westchester at Big Mike's in Pelham on November 12th. And just as an FYI, the 11/26 show at Boomers has been cancelled due to a mangement change at the club. But December is already shaping up to be real busy, so keep checking back for updates to the calendar.
10/5/05
- F*#k ups!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - UPDATE - Due
to communication problems, all future the October 8th FACELIFT show at
Brooklyn Music Terminal is cancelled. Wish I could give you more info. All I
know is that the club is closed and they're listing the wrong bands on the ticket
site. Also, the advertised October 22nd show at Renegade's has also been cancelled
due to a scheduling snafu. BUT, take heart, the Halloween Bash with Sanctuary
on October 29th at Barney McNabb's is still on!! This will be a great show!!
Make sure to dress up in a scary costume and get there early!!
We go on FIRST! Most likely no later than 10PM. We're also getting ready for
shows in Patterson, NY (5 minutes from MY house! YAY!) on 11/26 (Thanksgiving
weekend) and a return trip to Dingbatz on 12/3!! We're actually really psyched
for that show, because our good friends from buck3eighty
will be opening up for us!! So get there early to show them the love!! But also
keep checking back for updates as we're trying to salvage some of our schedule.
9/10/05 - Dingbatz Blazt - Holy S*&T it was SO good to finally be back in NJ!!! We were a little worried you all forgot about us... were we wrong!!! I've been to a few shows at Dingbatz and I've NEVER seen it packed like that! You all totally ROCKED and it was so good to see all of our old friends again - some new ones too!! Gotta thank Dancin' Larry (of course) and Craig, the MSBs - Sherry, Jennifer, Erika and Ruthie - I guess Deirdre's on the "injured reserve", Jenn & Hutch, Kenny, Frank & Rich from our favorite original Jersey band, buck3eighty. I'm sorry if I forgot anybody - it was kind of a crazy night!! We had a great time playing and the club treated us great!! Big thanks to Ant and Freddy @ 'Batz. We should be back there in December, so keep checking back. I know I saw a few people taking some pics - send them on in!!!! As of now, the next show is Saturday October 8th at Brooklyn Music Terminal. So we'll see everyone there!! Look for the Guestbook to be functioning next week - thanks for hanging in there.
9/07/05 - Hurricane Help For A Friend - Over the years FACELIFT has had the extreme pleasure of a friendship with Randy Jackson and the rest of Zebra. For me personally he was a huge influence on my playing and his prowess on the 12-string got me started on my own affinity for the instrument. I had the pleasure of seeing Randy play a rare Acoustic show this past weekend at a new club called Boomers (more on that later), and considering what he has been through the last week I was in awe of what I saw. A little quick background - Randy got to the show a few hours late as he had literally just flown back from his home state of Louisiana. Happy to report his family is all OK, but they lost their homes and most of their possesions. Now by 3 hours later, the crowd had dwindled down but everyone who was there really wanted to see Randy play. He proceeded to put on a killer show for over an hour and a half. Then his son Jaime Jackson did a short set - this kid is good and has "inhereted" his Dad's signature falsetto. At the end of Jaime's set, the two had a real "Father/Son Moment" - followed by Randy crushing on "Tell Me What You Want". Now I would have probably called it a night after the week he had, but to do the show and KILL and still be friendly and approachable is far too rare these days. He hung out until 3AM signing autographs and just BS'ing with me and the remaining "die-hards" that were there. This week Randy released a statement via Zebra's website and a few other sites that I wanted to pass along, not only because I'm a fan, but because this guy is just so d*mn nice.
| Hi.
My name is Randy Jackson, and I am a musician from a band called Zebra.
I grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana. Now my home town and the house I
grew up in are gone forever, and as bad as that sounds, I can handle it.
But, there are some five million refugees, one million from New Orleans and another four million from Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. Those states plus Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee and all the other states that immediately border them desperately need our constant help to feed and house these people. Those five million human beings will do exactly what you would do if your family was starving if it comes to it. They need the help of the whole world now. Our government is doing everything they can but they need our help too. The United States is the front line of civilization. Pass it on.

PS - YES -
I know the Guestbook is still down.
PPS - Don't forget Dingbatz this Friday night!! It will be awesome to finally
get back to Jersey!
9/01/05 -
News & Other Updates - The
Guestbook has been out of commision for the last week or 2. I'm working on setting
up my own, so I'm not relying on a 3rd party provider. Sorry for the inconvenience
- hang in there. Our upcoming show at Dingbatz
on September 9th is looking to be HUGE!!!! We're dying to play and it will be
our only area appearance as we're still trying to find our new "home base"
in NJ. So DO NOT miss this show. If you used to hang at The Wreck Room, you'll
love Dingbatz. The owner
is great, the bartenders are awesome and your old friends from The Wreck Room
will be there. Plus maybe some new ones too!! Also, check out the links on the
main page to do your part - any small part - to help out with Hurricane Katrina
Relief. You can donate money, blood or your time. Show the rest of the world
how the USA does things!!!
8/07/05
- Weekend Update #2 (UPDATED)- Weekend
Part "Deux" - Our first show back in Brooklyn at the brand new Brooklyn
Music Terminal. Although the place still has a lot of "echoes" of
L'Amours it will be undergoing some exciting changes in the near future. Also
look for us to be back there in early October. Gotta thank Ken, Michael, Kevin
and Gene and Jenn
on the PA- they ran a tight ship and we got onstage only about 10 minutes later
than scheduled. That can be a real challenge with 4 opening acts! But New York
has desperately needed a venue like this for a long time - All The Best Of Luck
from all of us on a prosperous future! There were a few technical difficulties,
but Kevin kept running back to throw the breakers! Also gotta thank all the
great fans in Brooklyn, but especially Christine (she made both nights of the
Double Header!), Greg D, Will, Dancin Larry & Craig. We're off for a few
weeks but we're gearing up for our blowout return show in New Jersey. It will
have been 6 months since we've played NJ - we've never gone that long before!!
So this show looks to be
absolute mayhem!! We'll see you all September 9th @ Dingbatz!!
UPDATE!! - The Thursday Night Acoustic Jam at Renegades is on hold for the next
few weeks. Keep checking back for updates as well as a bunch of newly added
FACELIFT shows!
8/06/05 - Weekend
Update #1 - These
"Double Header" Weekends can be rough. But playing close to home makes
it a lot easier and it was made even better with a FACELIFT alumni reunion.
Ermes was held up in customs and we had to send a special UN Envoy to get him
cleared, but he did finally make it. Plus our buddy Tommy was there for the
show so it made for a FACELIFT (Version 2003) reunion. Always good to play with
my old buds again. What a great night though - the A/C was CRANKIN' so it was
nice and comfy. Plus the added bonus of a mini-set from Bobby D's other (I know
ANOTHER band!) band Cerberus. They tore through some classic Sabbath with Bobby
doing his "Ozzy" best! Big thanks to the staff at Renegades - Tony,
Stewie and everyone else! Plus we gotta thank our pals Andy, Scott and Rich
& Chris (from Cerberus). Check out the pics from the show HERE
- also added pics from last week @ Turtle Bay. We'll see everyone in Brooklyn
tonight at The Brooklyn Music Terminal. We're "scheduled" to start
around 11 - hope they stick to it!
7/30/05 - That is one DAMN Long Island!! - WHEW... I kept waiting to drive in to the Atlantic Ocean!! Now I know how it got it's name - LLLOOOOONNNNNGGGGG Island!!!! But, definitely worth the trip! You LI'ers really know how to party. The Turtle Bay is great place to hang out and the staff was great to us! Mega-props to Bobby D for doing TRIPLE duty! He was of course playing bass with us, working the PA and he setup the show for Turtle Bay. Thanks Bro - you 'da man! Direct Drive was supposed to play, but had to cancel at the last minute - so we got to do 2 nice long sets and even played around with the AC/DC, Led Zep & Bon Jovi stuff again just for fun! I know we'll be back out on LI soon, well maybe not quite that far out, but we'll definitely be back. Thanks to Jenn and Jess and all the friends they brought. Also great to see the guys from Bill's Garage - Bill, Scott & Walter - these guys are hard core fans!! And of course all the dancing ladies too!! Check back soon for pics from the show. Oh yeah - who had that big camera?? Whoever it was, send along the pics and we'll post them here!!!
Also, something "hosed up" the Guestbook, so I had to clear it out and start over. Here is the previous Guestbook in reverse order (the most recent posts are at the bottom).
I have it on good authority straight from the Cuban government (Castro himself!) that our old friend Ermes may be flying in for an appearance at Renegades this Friday night August 5th. So don't miss out on this show, great room and great food too downstairs. Plus the night before - Thursday August 4th - Bobby D and JT and I will be doing our weekly Acoustic Jam. Don't forget anyone is welcome to come down and jam with us, or by yourself. We've got all the gear, all you gotta do is show up!
7/13/05 - FACELIFT loses "6th" Member... - FACELIFT has to acknowledge our good friend, and unofficial "6th Member" of the band, Mike Matero is moving out of the area down to Florida. There he will use his massive size and strength to stop future Hurricanes and Tropical Storms from inflicting damage on Florida! Mike's been heavily associated with the band since it's inception. He has functioned as roadie, secretary, body guard, driver, referee, food-taster, friend and many other important functions that have allowed FACELIFT to be as successful as we are. Mike also made the first FACELIFT flyers and mailers and helped with the design of the logo, which has remained virtually unchanged since. We'll miss you Brother and we owe you so much, take care!! All the best wishes from your friends: Mike, Jim, Tony, Vakka and Bobby - plus I'm sure I speak for Ermes, Tommy, D.J. and Andy too!
(L-R) Me, Suppa, Charlie, Matero (just a few mere hours before leaving for FLA!),
Joe & Crystal
7/6/05 - Summer Schedule Updates! - Just wanted to update everyone on some changes and additions to our calendar. For starters, if you've been living under a rock for the last few weeks or are on house arrest, The Axis Lounge show on July 8th has been cancelled. Check out the news below or the Guestbook for the reasons. Then we had originally scheduled a show at Turtle Bay East for Sunday afternoon July 31st, but we were able to squeeze in for a Friday night slot there instead. So we'll be there Friday July 29th now - full show, 2 sets - it should be a really outrageous place to see us!! We've also got some really amazing shows on tap for August. First up is Renegade's on Friday August 5th - the day after another "infamous" Thursday Night Acoustic Jam featuring Bobby D, J.T. (Groove Gypsys/Who's Yer Daddy) and me. Then on Saturday August 6th we return to Brooklyn at the new Brooklyn Music Terminal. The club is located in the same building as the old L'Amour - so we better see all you old "L'Amour Heads" out there!!! We're still ironing out some other possible dates in August. Then in September we're (finally!) coming back to New Jersey! It's been WAY too long since we've played in NJ (March I think?). Friday September 9th we'll be at Dingbatz - so everybody who misses the Wreck Room (or if you were going to go to Axis) will have a great place to come out and see us! So mark your calendars and line up the babysitters - whatever it takes - get out to these shows we've got coming up!!
7/2/05 - Early 4th Of July "Fireworks"!! - Whoa, guess I hit a nerve! Looks like the fireworks started early this year! I didn't mean to set off such a reaction, honestly. All I was trying to say was there are some great people and clubs in this business, and there are "certain" people who could learn a lesson or two from guys like Dave Glicker (Downtown) or even smaller club owners like Tony from Renegades or Big Mike from, of course, Big Mike's. I guess when we've been seeing people for over a decade who know what they're doing, it makes it a little easier to spot the people who don't, that's all. As far as Axis - No Harm, No Foul - I could rehash all the minutia, but in the end it won't get anybody anywhere. Speaking of Big Mike's, another little piece of history - the first show I ever had to miss. I was incredibly under the weather the last few days, but I was still gonna play. I had 2 Doctors tell me not to, so that was that. Thanks to the guys, especially Suppa, for their support - I could not wish for better bandmates - including the ex's - DJ, Tommy & Ermes! Although Tommy's been playing with us more than Vakka lately! Although there were a few songs the guys just couldn't do without an additional guitarist, they still pulled off 2 great sets of Rock-n-Roll!! I'm working on more dates as we speak - Dingbatz and Renegade's - so keep checking back for updates! Last but not least, everyone have a Happy and Safe 4th of July!!
6/28/05 - More Rock-n-Roll Drama! - I'm really sorry to say this, but the show at Axis Lounge has been cancelled by Management. I could go into all the gory details as to why this club is the latest victim of stupidity but our buds from Sanctuary (The Iron Maiden Tribute) have made the following statement, after the debacle that was their recent show there.
|
First, on behalf of Sanctuary, we want to express our deepest apologies for the show at Axis Lounge. Management at Axis Lounge clearly has no knowledge of live entertainment nor towards promotions. This is rather lenghty, and I apologize if this seems I just having a "bitch fit", but if your in a band looking for a venue to play, STAY AWAY from Axis Lounge. Lets start with promotion 1st - there was an ad in Steppin Out magazine that only reflected a DJ.No Mentioning of Queen of the Ryche or Sanctuary. One owner blamed Steppin Out for the error, the other owner said the house DJ put the ad. In addition NONE of our flyers were on display anywhere.
3rd - Axis then put a partition/curtain to separate the dance room from the band area. The sheet or vinyl material used was 10 foot high, then 10 foot above that, there was nothing. They also had a cut out doorway opening in the material to go to & from the dance room to band room. Here's a valuable tip, if your going to use material as thin as a bed sheet to seperate rock music from dance music, there's 100% chance that it's not going to work. I should have realized we were in trouble when I saw this, but i didn't want to let down any Maiden fans that were coming to the show. As it is, fans were already going to get ripped off from not getting the full stage show due to stage size reduction. lastly - management canceled the Sanctuary show just before 11pm, citing that Todd's vocals (Queen of the Ryche) was bleeding into the dance room area. They tell me this, just as Queen of the Ryche finishes a song, and the dance music is overpowering into the band area side. So I look through the open cutaway into the dance music side, and there's maybe 18 people scattered around, and none of them were even dancing. So you can imagine I wasn't very happy that our show was getting bagged. After Queen of the Ryche finished their set, I had to get on the PA and tell fans that mangement canceled the Sanctuary show and that they can get a full refund at the door. I also left off saying fuck this place, don't ever come here again. Axis Lounge sucks, I'll never play there again. Don't even bother checking out band there as well, you won't be able to enjoy the music with the sad ass partition they have. |
Then I got a call from Joe @ Axis on Monday afternoon cancelling our July 8th show. So there you have it kids, another venue bites the dust because of simple stupidity. How the F*&K can you put up a vinyl tarp and expect it hold back anything besides a wet sock!!!!?!?!?!?! Sorry to repeat myself, but in 10 years of doing this, it never ceases to amaze me how utterly clueless some (and I stress SOME, definitely not all!) of these Club Managers/Owners really are. I did know about the "remodel", but I thought they would have it done before any bands actually played. OK, enough of my "Bitch Fit". ANYWAY.... we'll be at the newly rebuilt (not with f'ing tarps!) "Big Mike's" in Pelham this Friday night - to start the Fourth Of July Weekend off right! Also, before that on Thursday, Bobby D & I and J.T. will be doing our weekly Acoustic Jam at Renegade's. We've been adding a lot of new songs and as always, anyone is welcome to come down and jam!!
6/20/05 - Dudley's "Do-Right" !! - WHOA!!!! What a rediculously CRAZY night (and morning!!)!! There were fans from all over the Tri-State area who trekked out to New Rochelle to pack into the "intimate" Dudley's for a hot, sweaty, rockin' and at times silly night! First gotta that the fans that travelled far and wide to be there like: Bill, Walter & Scott from Bill's Garage in Mastic, LI (thanks for taking it easy on the Zippos!). Also gotta thank Melissa and her Jersey crew for the vocal assistance - hope all you guys got home OK! Also gotta thank John and his friends for exposing a brand new fan to the FACELIFT "Virus". Jessica, although a HUGE AIC fan, didn't feel we could possibly be up to the task of bringing 'Chains to life - we're happy to report she was easily "converted" and can now be counted among one of our biggest fans! Of course among the faithful were also Dancin' Larry and Bob! Also gotta thank Tommy for filling in at the last minute for Vakka, who had to perform emergency, freelance Gynocological services at an undisclosed location. Tommy will be actually be filling in for Vakka for the month or so - so make sure to come out and show Tommy "the love"! Of course there's always the great staff @ Dudley's, including Barry at the door and bartender Mike. The night did get a little silly when we started playing around with some extra songs - like Highway to Hell, Deuce and Dead or Alive. We hope you all enjoyed listening to those songs as much as we enjoyed playing them! And major props to Bobby D and Jimmy for doing awesome PA duty. The next show was just recently added due to their accelerated repair efforts, we'll be back at Big Mikes in Pelham on July 1st!! Hard to believe they're back already, but make sure to come on out to this show and celebrate Big Mike's re-opening. The week after that, on July 8th, we're back in NJ at The Axis Lounge in Carlstadt, NJ - in the shadow of the Meadowlands off of Route 120. For all the fans that miss the Wreck Room, this is the place to go - good crowd, nice room, good PA - and a lot of the old "Wreck Room" crew!! Also don't forget that Bobby and J.T. and I are doing an Acoustic Jam every Thursday night at Renegade's. We do a few AIC songs and lot of other great tunes, plus there are always special guests and anyone is welcome to come down and play - we already have the instruments - just bring your "chops"!!
6/2/05 - Summer Schedule!! - Usually we aren't very busy in the Summer, but this year we decided to hit it little harder and take our show on the road!!! We'll be playing new venues in Westchester, Brooklyn, Jersey (R.I.P. Wreck Room) and The Hamptons!! So you all better fill up the gas tanks and get ready for some road trips!! Also, just to keep things interesting during the Summer, Bobby D & I will be doing an "Acoustic Rock Jam" night at Renegade's every Thursday at 10PM this summer! Joining us will be the always amazing J.T. from The Groove Gypsys and Hoosier Daddy. Feel free to let us know if you want to join in and Jam a song with us - if we know it, we'll do it - otherwise we'll just wing it or let you twist in the wind solo!! Renegade's also has great food, so get there early for dinner before the show. Be sure to check out SHOWS to find out all the latest happenings! We'll see you all this Summer!!!
5/16/05 - Weekend Update - Part II OH MAN! My head is still humming! What a weekend!! First off gotta thank some people I forgot to thank from Friday night at The Downtown: The Guys from Bill's Garage in Mastic, LI - you guys are CRAZY but the butane fumes were making me dizzy!! Glad we were able to autograph that Banner for you guys - you ROCK!! And we gotta thank Tommy for coming out and joining us for a few tunes. Also, there were some flashes going off on Friday - feel free to e-mail me the pics, I'd love to put them up on the site!! OK, now to yesterday. It wasn't our biggest crowd, but it was a complete BLAST!!! The staff at Renegade's is the BEST and treats us like royalty!! The food is awesome and they make a mean drink. Check back for info on Bobby and I doing an "Acoustic Jam" there on Thursdays - maybe starting this week??? And since Lou was still too hungover (wuss!) from Friday night, we had Tommy come out and join us for this show! He always seems to be playing with us at Renegade's... thanks brother!! We haven't had that much fun playing in a long time - we tooled around with Sickman and Godsmack (both need work) and then jammed out some Bon Jovi, AC/DC and Led Zeppelin too. See what happens when we drink on a Sunday afternoon!!?!?!? We had fun doing songs we haven't done in a while - Rotten Apple, Angry Chair (with our bud Dancin' Larry) and Brother. We've had to postpone our show at Wild Spirits on June 4th due to some scheduling conflicts. Keep checking back to the website for the new date at this very cool club. I'm going to get some sleep now...
5/14/05 - Weekend Update - Part I WHEW, what a crazy weekend!! You "Strong Islanders" really know how to party!!! What an amazing night at an amazing venue. We always have a great time playing at The Downtown. It's a great room that is very well run, has a great crowd and and outstanding PA system. Plus the hospitality they show us is unmatched at ANY club! I got there a little late, but I did catch the last few songs of the RATM tribute 'Fistfull of Steel' and those guys really have the "Rage" sound down pat, and the singer/rapper is dead on - definitely worth checking out. I gotta thank the lovely Melissa and her crew, Drew and his buds and I really enjoyed the chat with Jim & Marie after the show. We don't play The Downtown as often as we'd like, but when we do, the awesome fans on LI never let us down!! As for the rest of the weekend, today Mike & I should be at the NY/NJ KISS Expo. We're going there to support our friends in KISSNation and ZO2, hope we see you there. Then on Sunday were playing a BBQ Bash at Renengade's - the show should start around 3PM, but get there a little early for some of the great food that Renegade's has to offer. And even though we don't usually play much during the summer, keep checking back for updates because we actually have quite a few dates lined for the summer in NJ, Westchester and The Hamptons - so we'll see you soon!!
4/17/05 - Wild times @ Wild Spirits! Even though the name changed (it used to be Hogs & heifers - Uptown) this place is almost EXACTLY the same as it was before. But they've remodeled the place and have made some other great improvements!! Of course the PA was great and the new stage setup is awesome plus we LOVE playing in NYC! But they really take the "Spirits" part of the name VERY seriously!! There was some MAJOR drinking going on there last night - between the "upskirt shots" (was she wearing a thong or what??) and the "on stage" shots - WHEW!! Gotta thank Mike from HeadBangerNYC.Com for showing up - hey Mike? Where's our link on your page??? Also, great to see a lot of our friends - Dancin' Larry, Bob, Scott - as well as some new faces too! Check out PICS for a few pictures from the show. Also - JUST ADDED!!!! A new video (I told you there'd be more!) This video is from The Wreck Room on April 8th, it was taken by one of our biggest fans - Patricia. Check out the new FLIX!! Also, I had mentioned that Dave from Master Of Puppets was moving out of the area soon. Well their "Farewell Show" will be this Saturday April 23rd at Club Ritual. They'll also be there with Far Beyond Hell the Pantera tribute. Make sure to show Dave and MOP "the love"!!
4/15/05 - Kickin' some more "ass" @ The Donkey! WHEW! What a night! You Long Islanders are CRAZY!! Hanging out until nearly 2AM on a Thursday??!?! But you guys really know how to ROCK! We had a blast playing for you all, and the Crazy Donkey/Club Loaded is a great venue. Thanks to Dave R. and the entire Crazy Donkey staff for a great night! Gotta thank all of our friends, Drew, the Guys from Bill's Garage and last but certainly not least, Dave Monti from Master of Puppets. Might not see Dave for a while, he's heading out to Utah to teach Donnie Osmond how to be more than just "a little bit" Rock & Roll!! Take care Bro - we'll miss ya'!! I video taped the show, and will go through it to see if anything is worth posting in FLIX. Be sure to check PICS for some updated pictures from last weeks Wreck Room show too. Also, don't forget today is Tax Day!! We'll see everyone tomorrow night in NYC at Wild Spirits on 96th & 1st!!
4/9/05
- We're BAAAAAAAACK!! @ The Wreck Room!
After 8 weeks, 3 different managers and half a dozen or so closings,we FINALLY
made it back to the newly re-opened Wreck Room. Not a whole lot has changed
except the phone # (973) 471-8022 and the website: www.wreckroom.net
Same great sound system (Thanx Bob!), most of the same bartenders and bouncers.
The place still has some "Public Relations" issues to resolve, but
I think it will all work out just fine. We hadn't played with Visions in a few
years, and it was great to see them doing some of the stuff you don't normally
hear bands do; like Dream Theatre, Saga & Boston. We missed Every Six Seconds,
but heard they kicked some ass as well. WAY too many people to thank but here
goes: Thanks to Patricia for doing some video taping (look for the video on
the website soon!), Rey from five44 Productions for taking some pics, thanks
Denise (aka Kookie) for also taking some pics, thanks to Deirdre, Joy, Jenn
and all the other lovely ladies that helped us out with Down In A Hole. Jenn
also took some pictures that she e-mailed to me at 5:30
in the morning after the show!!! Make sure to check back often as I'll be updating
the page with the new pictures as they get e-mailed to me. We'll see everyone
Thursday night at Crazy
Donkey. We'll be with Serve The Servant, the Nirvana tribute, and the whole
thing will be an informal celebration of the music of Layne Staley and Kurt
Cobain. So join us for this special Thursday night show.
3/24/05 - Upcoming LI Shows & More Benefit Pics! We're
heading back out to LI for a couple of shows and we
couldn't be more psyched!! It's been a while since we've been out there, but
now you're going to get a 1-2 Punch!! We just added a show on Thursday, April
14th at Crazy
Donkey, (YES Thursday! The last time we were there on a Thursday was KILLER!)
and this is looking to be just an awesome show. We'll be playing along with
the new Nirvana tribute Serve The Servants. It will also be a celebration of
the music and spirit of Layne and Kurt on the anniversary of thier passing.
But to liven things up a bit there will be the always lovely "Loaded Dancers"
doing thier bump & grunge to the music all night. Go HERE
to get a pass you can print out for reduced admission at the door, or get
your tickets online at Crazy
Donkey Tickets - this is an 18 & over show. Then on Friday May
13th we'll be at the legendary Downtown
in Farmingdale. We'll be playing with a RATM tribute called Fistful of Steel.
Plus this is an 18 and over show too!! Now I know I didn't get too many
pictures from the recent Big Mike's Benefit at Renegade's but Lauren from Westchester
Rocks got almost 100!! Go HERE
to check them out, they're chronological, so you don't get to our pics until
close to the end. But there are some real classics on there, definitely worth
checking out!! Thanks Lauren for everything you do to support the Westchester
music scene!
3/21/05 - Rockin' Renegade's for a good cause. Man, my ears are still ringing!! But what a day and what a crowd!! Usually when we do these benefit shows the attendance is a little light - just because it's usually a Sunday after a night out, etc... But you people can HANG! Mike & I were out at PJs for Bobby with Direct Drive on Saturday night. We get to Renegade's on Sunday, and see a lot of the same people!! That's hard core!! But what an event!! The food was fresh and going until after we played! And the bands... where to start. We got there just in time for Hindenburg - we're good friends with those guys: Mark Hitt, Charlie (our one time singer) and of course Budgie - with Anthony filling in for the MIA Felix. Then Direct Drive, great as usual. Then a special performance of The Groove Gypsys with 'Cuda playing guitar. They were followed by the always sizzling Snappahead. Then we got to do "our thing" which was fun, as usual. But then we finished the set with Budgie on the drums for KISS's Deuce - I love doing that song - plus I got to sing! After us was a great band called Archives - real tight and heavy stuff featuring our buddy Eddie!! Check these guys out where you can! OK, now I got a boat load of Thank Yous - Bobby D - for pulling mega duty on Bass, the PA and organizing this great show!! Gotta thank the great staff at Renegades: Tony, Tracey and EVERYONE ELSE (PS - Who won the 100 Year old bottle of Jack Daniels???! Yummy!) And of course we need to thank all the great fans for coming out like Andy, Joy, Joey, Lauren from WestchesterRocks.Com and all the other crazy rockers that came out for this great cause. I don't know how much money was raised, but by the size of the crowd, I'm sure it was a real success! Check out PICS for some great shots from the show of us and a lot of the other bands. Also check out next month's More Sugar for tons of pictures from the party/show too!! We'll be off for a few weeks for practicing and recording a new demo, so keep checking back to the website for updates.
3/12/05
- Lighting up Northern Lights - UPDATE!
WHEW, these out of town trips are a little rough, but SO MUCH FUN! We had a
real good time with all the fans who braved the wintery weather. Sorry we haven't
been up that way in a while - it's been too long! Hopefully we'll get up there
on a more regular basis. Huge thanks go out to Jeff at Northern Lights, and
to Roger for doing a great job on the sound. They really have an excellent PA
there! And of course we have to thank Jason and Sandra for coming all the way
from near Boston, MA for the show!! These guys are die-hard fans, and last travelled
to NYC to see us at The Hard Rock Cafe! Gotta thank Rumplestiltskin and Gail
for hanging out with us for a while after the show. They tried to get us to
go out bar-hopping in Albany after the show, but the guys were a little pooped...
or so I thought! We ended up closing some place called "The Rusty Nail"
and finished the evening off with some extreme cuisine at Denny's - gotta love
Denny's!! We'll see you all next on Sunday March 20th at Renegades for the "Big
Mike's Benefit" Show with Hindenburg, Groove Gypsys, etc...
UPDATE!! Not that I forgot, but being that he's like a brother, I didn't mention
that we have to thank Tommy Frustieri for filling in again for the ailing Vakka.
It was a lot of fun playing the last few shows with him again, and he's always
welcome to sit in!
Also, here's an article that was in the local "music rag" up in Albany
called Metroland, in
the "Noteworthy" section. Hey, I guess that means we're noteworthy
- that's cool. But I'm not sure if the author of this article is abusing us
or praising us... you decide! Just seeing the word "pernicious" in
an article about us gave me goosebumps, but I don't get the Lester Bangs part...
Facelift
- Northern
Lights, Friday
At
Facelifts Web site, Ralph Saenz sings the praises of the Alice in Chains
tribute act: NobodyI mean nobodydo Alice in Chains better
than you guys. Who, though, is Ralph Saenz? Saenz is David Lee Roth in
the Atomic Punks, the official Van Halen tribute act, of course. We were thinking
about getting Garry Noth, who plays Lester Bangs in the official Creem tribute
publication, to comment on all this, but we figured enough was enough, already.
Point is, if you want to check out Alice in Chains, youre SOL, since lead
singer Layne Staley died in 2002. But, word is, Facelift provide the Alice in
Chains experienceand in a more honest way than the hordes of Alice
in Chains lite bands that have choked the airwaves in the Seattle bands
wake. Really, has any good band since Sabbath had as pernicious an influence
as AIC? But we digress. (March 11, 7:30 PM, 1208 Route 146, Clifton Park, $8,
371-0012)
3/10/05 - UNREAL Big Mike's Benefit Show Lineup!!! To help out Big Mike with the expenses of rebuilding that his insurance didn't cover, Renegade's & (our own) Bobby Devlin have put together a fantasy lineup of all of Westchester's HOTTEST bands! Too many to list - see the lineup below. The show will be Sunday March 20th starting at 12 Noon and going until... WHO KNOWS!?!?!? Like I said last week, the food at Renegade's is AWESOME, the staff is very cool and friendly plus they have a pool table and TVs everywhere so you can watch "March Madness" or NASCAR while the bands are jamming upstairs! And where else are you going to see all these bands in one place?? So mark it on you calendar, you GOTTA come out for this! Here's the word straight from Bobby D:
It's an
AMAZING lineup of local talent joined together for a great cause ! After Archives
be prepared for one of the sickest all-out jams in history ! ! ! And the $10
cover goes directly to victims of the fire.
12:00 noon Simulcast
1:00 PM Stone Groove
2:00 PM Wicked Garden
3:00 PM Sundown
4:00 PM Hindenberg/Psychodelics
5:00 PM Direct Drive
6:00 PM Groove Gypsys
7:00 PM Snappahead
8:00 PM FACELIFT
9:00 PM Archives
All the
best,
Bobby D
Also, just
added pictures from our Renegade's show on 3/4, so make sure you check out PICS
for those - thanx Rey & Rita
from Five44 Productions! See you all this Friday in Albany at Northern
Lights - show starts around 10, and this is an ALL AGES show!!
3/7/05 - Sad news & Show Updates... FACELIFT lost a treasured venue today - Big Mike's in Pelham, NY suffered a major fire overnight. The good news is no one was injured, but the building was lost. We played Big Mike's only once, but it was extremely memorable - great staff and Mike & I got to jam with "Budgie" from Ace Frehley/Snappshead/Psychodelics. As a matter of a fact the last time we were there was last week for the "Psychodelics" show, not to mention the numerous acoustic jams, and other times we were just there socially. The place will be sorely missed. All of our best wishes go out to Mike and the entire staff. So... needless to say, our April 1st (April Fools Day) show there has been cancelled. Check out SHOWS for all the latest on upcoming shows.
3/5/05
- Renegade's ROCKS!!!
I've said it before and I'll say it again, it is always AWESOME to play close
to home. But this was "kicked up" a notch or 2! First of all a great
staff- Tony, Tracy, Mary & the rest of the Renegade's crew. Then there's
the excellent food - you gotta try this place! It's really cool because you
can hang out downstairs and eat (try the wings!), play pool or just drink. Then
on the 2nd floor is the music, another bar and a big screen video jukebox that
was crankin' out some serious 80's hair metal! We have to thank all of our friends
that made it out on short notice... Jenn, Joe Cos and all the new faces too!
Also have to thank Rey & Rita from Five44
Productions for coming out to take some stills - I'll have them posted in
PICS very soon, keep checking back. The show was extra
special too because filling on the drums for the night (not just a song or 2!)
was none other than Tommy Frustieri!! Short of having Sean himself, we couldn't
ask for better! It was really cool to do 2 sets and "stretch out"
a little, plus pull out some songs we haven't played in a while. We'll be back
there soon, even though they thought we were a little loud - that was kinda
funny. We'll see everybody next Friday, March 11th, at Northern
Lights, the doors open at 7, but I wouldn't imagine we're starting before
10. This show will also feature our friend and brother, Tommy Frustieri on drums
- THANKS BRO!!
2/28/05
- SHOW JUST ADDED!! - I
know it's kinda last minute, BUT, we just rescheduled our appearance at Renegade's
(Formerly Four Roads) for THIS FRIDAY NIGHT!! This will be a great night of
music! We'll get to do 2 long sets, so we'll pull out all the stops. Plus as
an added bonus... our old friend Tommy Frustieri will be playing drums for us
that night. Vakka already had plans to go to Fire Island with his "life
partner" for a long weekend of water play. Just kidding!!! Hope to see
you all there!!
2/20/05 - Hard Rockin' @ The "Rock" - What can be said about the fans in NYC!?!?! You guys are the absolute best and kept The Hard Rock Cafe full and the drinks flowing until closing time. We were only supposed to play an hour or so - but I think it ended up being almost 2 hours of full on AIC! Check out PICS for some pics from the show - I have a bunch of sources from that night and a lot of PICS to go through, so keep checking back for updates! Now for some bad news... we have to reschedule the show at Four Roads, originally scheduled for this Saturday, February 26th - dealing with 5 guys and 5 different schedules can have it's problems sometimes. Thanks for your patience and understanding, and I promise we'll be in to rock Four Roads soon. It's a cool room and they've been VERY understanding about our schduling "issues". But I have nailed down some more shows dates - March 11th we'll be back in Albany, NY at Northern Lights and we've locked in the next Wreck Room date: April 8th - which means all the remaining dates on the last postcard we mailed out are bad - you can use it as a coaster I guess. So keep checking back to the schedule on the website for updates.
2/13/05 - New Shows Just Added! - We just added a WHOLE bunch of shows, so be sure to check them out. We're coming back to Long Island, NJ and Westchester - so there has got to be a show near you. Plus were adding more shows all the time, so keep checking back. Make sure to be at The Hard Rock Cafe this Friday the 18th. We'll be playing with Riot Act, the area's best Pearl Jam Tribute. The show is FREE and sponsored by Budweiser, so you can get your drink on! Get there early - the last show was filled to capacity!!!
2/5/05 - A little gift since we're not playing this weekend... - OK, this isn't CD or DVD quality or anything, but it sounds pretty good, and looks pretty cool in Black & White. A BRAND NEW VIDEO of We Die Young!! ALSO!!! Big News! I added the first SOUND I've been promising these for a (LONG) while and here it is - the audio from the above video! Again, not CD quality, but you get a good idea of the FACELIFT experience. Please be kind and bear in mind this was done a standard Hi8 video camera. But I think it's pretty good - enjoy!!
1/30/05 - Bustin' out some different tunes @ The Wreck Room! - WOW, there was some sort of energy in the room last night. What a great crowd, you guys reallly responded to some of the different songs we're doing now. And believe it or not, we still have a few tricks up our sleeves!!! But it was so much fun doing Brother, I Stay Away, Sludge Factory, Sunshine and Rain When I Die for you guys!! We've never seen a reaction like that. Of course Bob did a great job on the P.A. making us sound like a Million Bucks! And big props out to Monkey Wrench - these guys do a real solid Foo Fighters show, and are definitely worth checking out! And what can I say about the crowd - just unreal!! It's always good to see our friends Tommy, Dancin' Larry, Seren, Denise and of course the guys from buck3eighty. Stay tuned for some possible news on those guys soon... Check out PICS for a few from the show. We'll be back at The Wreck Room in late March-early April. Our next show is next Saturday, February 5th at Four Roads in Yonkers, NY, for a 2-set performance. So we hope to see you all there!!! Happy Groundhog Day!!
1/22/05 - Neither Rain Nor Snow or... ahhh F' it!! - I think this is the FIRST show in our 10 Year history that we've ever cancelled because of weather, but this storm is looking to be pretty nasty. Everybody just stay home and safe and we'll reschedule the show at Wild Spirits ASAP. Our next NYC show will be an amazing night at The Hard Rock Cafe with Riot Act the Pearl Jam tribute. The show is FREE (FREE, nada, zip, zilch...) and will be sponsored by Budweiser. So you can use the money you saved on the cover to buy more Buds (or Bud LIghts). Just make sure to get there early because the last "Monsters Of Mock" at The Hard Rock with KISSNation and LiveWire was a full capacity show!! Our next show will be at The Wreck Room on Saturday, January 29th. Monkey Wrench the Foo Fighters tribute will be opening, these guys are real solid and are defintely worth checking out.
1/11/05 - Gettin' Dudley'd! - I can't say it enough - it's ALWAYS great to play close to home!! And Dudley's was no exception! Even with the Jets playing, there was a great crowd there. Of course all of us were watching the game right up until the dramatic ending - it was funny watching Jimmy trying concentrate on singing while watching the game! Want to thank the great staff at Dudley's including Barry at the door. And 2$ Buds - how can you go wrong?!?!? It was great to be playing again too - we had a 7 week break!! But we were able to bust out a few new tunes - Sludge Factory, Rain When I Die. We do have some other tunes were getting ready to do (Brother, I Know Something, I Stay Away and MORE!), and sometimes time contraints keep us from doing every single song we know, we HAVE to play the hits. Plus it keeps you all coming back for more! Of course I have to thank all the special guests! Our old pal Tommy joining us for an amped up version of Queen Of The Rodeo, Joe Cos from Groove Gypsys joining us for Man In The Box and of course Chris Petroburgo from Crash Box playing lead Guitar on Would? Next show up is Saturday January 22nd at Wild Spirits, it used to be Hogs & Heifers Uptown. This is a nice small intimate place to see us play, but it's ALWAYS a blast! Also, an update on our February 18th show at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York City - with Riot Act the Pearl Jam tribute opening the night at 10PM. This show is going to be AMAZING!!! First of all, it's FREE!! It won't cost you a dime to get in! But get there a little early because these shows almost always fill to capacity! Also, the show is sponsored by Budweiser (my beverage of choice when we're playing) so there will be Bud/Bud Light specials. AND... the show will be advertised on XM Radio on the Opie & Anthony show - audio will also be recorded live at the show for possible replay during the O&A show the following week!! If you still listen to just FM radio, turn off K-ROT and go to Circuit City or Best Buy and get an XM Radio NOW!!!! There's always a deal going on them and I have personally never been happier with an electronics purchase - EVER!!! See you all next week at Wile Spirits!!!!
1/3/05 - Happy Holidays to ALL & Updates. - All of the members of FACELIFT - Mike, Jim, Tony, Vakka & Bobby would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year! We're enjoying the downtime, but are getting ready to roll again. We've added some songs to the setlist, and everyone is psyched to get back out and play! I reset the Guestbook for the New Year and because it was getting a little too big for my provider. You can click HERE to "relive" the 2004 Guestbook - but for some reason the date sorting got hosed - I'll re-sort it and re-post it ASAP. Also, the show at Big Mike's has been rescheduled for March - keep checking back for more info. Happy 2005 To All and we'll see you this weekend at Dudley's in New Rochelle!!
12/9/04 - 2005 Shows Added & Other News... - As you can see from the main page or SHOWS, we've added a boat-load of shows in 2005. We're hitting a few new rooms and getting to play more in Westchester, where a lot of you have been wanting us to play!! Make sure to come out to Dudley's in New Rochelle for our first show of 2005 on January 8th! We're working on some new songs in our downtime, and toying with a Mad Season song or 2 as well.
We are deeply saddened by the passing of "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, and want to wish his family our heartfelt sympathy. A tragedy like this affects everyone in the Rock & Roll family.
11/29/04 - The Big Wrap Up @ The Wreck Room! - You crazy f'ers at the Wreck Room NEVER disappoint!! What a great night of rock-n-roll inside, even though the weather outside was so bad!! First of all big, huge props go to buck3eighty. We've been playing with these guys for close to 3 years and we have been big supporters of theirs from day 1!! To see them call it quits leaves us with heavy hearts for 2 reasons: 1 is they have some great tunes! The second reason is that we always liked playing with these guys - real good people, and they always got a lot of love from our great fans - and vice-versa! The highlight of the night for me and Mike was playing "What Have I Done?" with the guys and being part of the "4-Guitar Attack"!! (April Wine fans might get that reference) We had a great time playing and as usual Bobby (the PA guy) did a fantasic job making us sound great. It was good to see some of the "regulars": Dancin' Larry, Deirdre and Adrienne as well as some newer faces: Dave from Master of Puppets making the long trip from LI with Dom, and Glory who was celebrating her birthday!! Of course it was also great to have Tommy come up and do a few tunes with us - it's always good to see you Brother!! It's looking like that was our last show of 2004, but keep checking back we're always adding new shows!!! For anyone who lives up in the "Dutchess/Putnam" area of New York, make sure you come out to the Stormville Pub the night before Thanksgiving, November 24th!! I'll be playing with my other band, 100 Proof. I know, I know, it's NOT Alice In Chains! But it is some good old Rock-n-Roll: KISS, Queen, Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top, Black Crowes and lots more. Plus we'll have some special appearances! Bobby Devlin is doing the sound, and Suppa lives pretty close, so we'll get them up on stage for at least 1 AIC song! Also we'll have very special guest Mark Hitt (Hindenburg, Torque, Rat Race Choir) sitting for a set too!! He is a MONSTER of a guitar player!!! So DO NOT MISS this fun night of Rock-n-Roll. You can contact the club at (845) 227-9704, and it is conveniently located on the way to the Stormville Airport off of Route 52. Happy Turkey Day to All!!!
11/15/04 - Back In The "Big Mike's" Groove... - It's is always fun to play in our own "backyard" but this show was extra special! After tearin' it up with almost 2 hours of Alice In Chains, we invited Steve "Budgie" Werner to sit in with us for Man In The Box, which SMOKED! Then, being the HUGE KISS fans that we are, Mike and I launched into a KISS/Ace Frehley Mini-set. We blazed through Deuce, New York Groove, Shock Me and we could have done Cold Gin and Rock & Roll All Night!! It truly was an honor to play those songs with Budgie - thanks!!! Make sure you check all the projects Budgie has going on: HIndenburg, Snappahead, The Psycho-delics, Ace Frehley (of course!) as well as his numerous other projects!!! Huge thanks to all the crew at Big Mike's, this is a really cool room right in Westchester, and they have a really diverse calendar of bands! Mega-props to Bobby D for doing "double-duty" working the PA and playing - you da' man! And of course thanks to all the fans and fellow musicians that made it out - especially JT, Joe and "The Kid" from Groove Gypsys - you gotta check them out at a club near you!! Also among the crowd was up-and-comer DJ Pasha (my long lost son) along with Monique and Katya - thanks for making the trip from CT you krazy kidz!! Our next show is this Saturday the 20th at The Wreck Room. We'll be playing with our good friends in buck3eighty. MAKE SURE YOU MAKE IT TO THIS SHOW!!! This will "allegedly" be buck3eighty's last show. I hate to think it is - there is just no justice in the world when a band with the great songs, great sound and great attitude of buck3eighty isn't famous. Instead the record companies give us "manufactured, pre-fab, lip synched" aural diarrhea - instead of bands like buck3eighty or Point Blank! OK I'm done rantin' - just make sure you come out to this show and show some BIG LOVE to our friends buck3eighty!
PS - Thanks
again to "Taaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhd"
(AKA Todd) for doing various roadie duties and filming the show!
PPS - I know the "Guestbook" was out of commision over the weekend.
It's fixed now, and I'm working on making sure that doesn't happen again.
10/29/04
- Kickin' "Ass" @ The Donkey - MAN! My ears are STILL ringing!!
It's wayyyyy too early to even be thinkin' about this show! What an unbelievable
night. First off, gotta thank Dave and his fine staff at The
Crazy Donkey. They run a real tight ship and have a great room and PA with
great people, oh yeah, and good French Fries too!! Next, we gotta thank the
great Eddie Trunk. He's always been a HUGE supporter of the local club scene
and sincerely seemed to enjoy being there, plus he's dropped some weight and
looks very healthy. Make sure to check him out on Q104 and XM
Radio (if you still listen to commercial radio, you're missing out!). Now
onto the bands... First up was a Tool tribute, I think they're called "Noisewall"
(Sorry guys if I f'ed that up! E-mail
me and I'll fix it!) They really have the sound, mood and spirit of Tool and
the singer is dead on! I knew this was going to be a good night. Next up was
"Far Beyond Hell" the Pantera tribute. I have been wanting to see
these guys and they were really solid and didn't let a couple technical glitches
slow them down. I still can't believe the singer's voice held out for whole
set! Then it was our turn, the crowd was really up for the show, and it seemed
to fly by - like it always does! It was really "interesting" playing
"We Die Young" with the lovely "Donkey Dancers" doing their
thing. They did make the time between bands less painful. Next up was "Exciter"
- the Judas Priest tribute. Again, these guys are just AMAZING! The singer can
just f'in NAIL the high, screeching wails that Rob Halford made famous. These
guys are totally worth looking for and checking out!! Jimmy and I were watching
the whole show with our jaws on the floor!! Plus I think they made a new Priest
fan out of Suppa too! At this point, I had to split (damn work!), but next up
was our good friends Master
Of Puppets. They do a killer Metallica show and have all the balls and attitude
to match. After them was a new Ozzy Tribute called "Speak of The Devil",
I haven't heard them, but they must be good to be playing at The Donkey. It
was also great hanging out with the guys from all the other bands - too many
names to list - but everyone was just very cool and nice and having a good time.
It was nice to see so much professionalism. Our next date is Friday, November
12th at Big Mike's
in Pelham, NY - back "home" in Westchester County!! This will be a
wild night because we're the only band, so we'll be pulling out songs we don't
get to play a lot. You don't want to miss this, Big Mike's is a little smaller
than some of the other rooms we play, so it will be a nice intimate setting.
Plus it's close - just over the Bronx line in Westchester.
PS - Thanks to "Taaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhd" (AKA Todd) for doing general
roadie duties and filming the show!
10/1/04 - Bobby D. Update & a few fixes... - I finally got the website updated with Bobby D's info - so check it out HERE. In other FACELIFT news, I fixed a few links on the page and re-created the Kelly's Pub pics page. I'm not sure how it went missing, but there were some good pictures missing. Oh yeah, and I added some dates going into November too! But keep checking back to the site, I've got some video coming (really I promise), as well as new pictures, dates and events!
9/20/04 - Welcome Bobby D. & "Wild"wood Update! - For anyone who wasn't at Wildwood Saturday, I'd like to officially announce FACELIFT's new Bass player - Bobby Devlin. You may know him from filling in a few times for Ermes, or you may know him from opening up for us with Nemesis, or from Direct Drive, The Stevie Ray Vaughn Tribute, OR you may just know him - WHEW! Anyway, Welcome Bobby - and good luck! I'll be updating the website with his info in the next few days. Ermes was last seen in a converted 57 Chevy Pickup with pontoons off the coast of Florida, heading BACK to Cuba!! Seriously, he moved his family and his business to Florida to get a front row seat for the rest of Hurricane season. We're gonna miss you Elmer, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all your great work making FACELIFT a success. Now, onto Wildwood. It was an honor to be a part of the last Monsters Of Mock for 98.5 The Bone. Eric Davis and The Bone have been very good to us and ALL the tribute bands around, and they have been instrumental in establishing our LI fan base again! Eric is off to greener pastures, but he's not gone - we'll let you all know as soon as WE know. Wildwood is such a STRANGE place - the look, the location, the LANES!! But it continues to prove that Rock & Roll is thriving, because there is always a good crowd there and the acoustics aren't bad either! It's always great to see our buds in superUnknown and the Riot Act guys, plus were new fans of Faux Foo - or whatever they're changing their name to. I'll add pictures and maybe some video later in the week (I'm outta town, cut me some slack!). HUGE thanks to some great people - Chopper Bill for wearing our swag and the flawless sound and David & Paulie Z from ZO2 for coming all the way out from Brooklyn for the show!! You guys went FLYING by us on the LIE on the way back home!! And of course all the other bands (Faux Foo, Riot Act & superUnknown) and the great fans out on LI!! We'll be back out to see you all on October 28th (maybe sooner?) at The Crazy Donkey with Master Of Puppets!
9/14/04 - The Wreck Room Report (UPDATED) ! - Man, The Wreck Room is always CRAZY! You guys really know how to party!! First off, we gotta thank buck3eighty for KICKING ASS! There's definitely a "Mutual Admiration Society" going on when we play with these guys. They are the real deal, and know how to rock!! Make sure to check them out anytime you can, you will not be disappointed!! It was nice to have the time to "stretch out" a little and play a nice long set. Plus we had Tommy come up and do Queen of The Rodeo and Love, Hate, Love - always a pleasure brother!! Then there was the crowd - what can I say?? It was good to see Neil from Freak, Adrianne (aka - "The Tambourine Queen") and of course Deirdre!! I'll have a few pics up tomorrow - a few of us and buck3eighty as well as a shot of Suppa's 9/11 Banner. This coming Saturday we're at Wildwood Bowl in Riverhead, LI for the Monsters of Grunge Mock Fest, presented by 98.5 The Bone. We'll be playing at around 11:30. But get there early to check out SuperUnknown doing SoundGarden, Riot Act tearing up the Pearl Jams, and JUST ADDED!!! Faux Foo, the Foo Fighters Tribute!! Plus 98.5 The Bone will be there along with Eric Davis, and I'm sure they'll have swag to give away. Also, we're down to the last of the Hats & Shirts - $15 for Shirts, $20 for Hats or get a Combo for $30!! So get them while they last!!!!!!!
8/29/04
- Mega Monsters of Mock Mayhem!! - I told you it was going to be a crazy
night! Of course having Elmer and Jimmy stuck in traffic didn't help things!
We got started about 9:15 and had a quick 30 minutes to win over the crowd.
There were the requisite technical glitches (out of tune guitars, monitors from
HELL), but we managed to put on a good (but abbreviated) set. It was also nice
to check out some of the other (friendly) competition. Theater of Pain and Toys
In The Attic are a couple of bands I've been wanting to check out for a while.
But Exciter completely blew me away with their DEAD-ON Judas Priest show. The
singer is a monster and the fill-in drummer was spot on. Do yourself a favor
and check these guys out if you like "The Beast that is The Priest"!
Of course it's always good to see our buds in Master
Of Puppets who went on to have a killer set too! Thanks to Eric Davis and
98.5 The Bone for all their support of the tribute scene. All of the bands on
the bill owe a huge debt of gratitude to Eric for his undying support! Check
out some new pics HERE - there are a few from the Mega
Monsters of Mock and a few more added to the Misc Pix page of Mike with Joe
Satch and the Deep Purple guys. Thanks to Jim Crowley for the pics! There may
be some new video coming soon, so keep checking back!!
8/19/04 - Mega Monsters of Mock UPDATE! - We finally have the information
on the HUGE show on LI on Saturday, August 28th. It's going to be at The Viper
Bar in Hauppauge (address/phone# is coming). This is going to be a HUGE spectacle
of a show - 8 Tribute Bands!!! There is FACELIFT, our friends Master Of Puppets,
LiveWire doing AC/DC, Toy In The Attic playing Aerosmith, Exciter jamming Judas
Priest, Live After Death giving props to Iron Maiden, OnTime laying down Grand
Funk, and Motley Crue mockers, Theater of Pain. WHEW! Good thing the show is
starting at 7, each band will play about 45 minutes. Which is just enough not
to get bored of any one band. Make sure you get there early. 98.5 The Bone is
presenting the show, so I'm sure there will be Bone Swag and Bone Babes there
too. This is one Hell of a way to blow out the Summer, so make sure you get
there - and drag along about 13 friends too while you're at it!!
8/9/04 - Double D's - Double Pics! - We always have a great time at Double D's, and this time was no different! There are pics from the recent show as well as some from our last show there in May. I had the pictures in my digtal camera and forgot about them - so here they are! First of all we need to thank Caroline for all her help promoting and running the shows at Double D's - unfortunately she's heading back to school this fall, but it was great working with her. Also HUGE thanks and props go out to our fans from Naugatuck, CT that came all the way down to Morristown for the show. It's fans like these and all of you, that make playing in this band so amazing. The fans are SO into the music, and it just really inspires us! Case in point, even though Double D's wasn't packed, the fans that were there sounded like 1000 people - there was a ton of energy and excitement - we really enjoy playing for you guys (and gals!). Gotta thank our buds in Master Of Puppets they put on a ferocious Metallica show and give %110!! And of course a big "thank you" to our last drummer, Tommy. It's always good to see you brother - plus we got to do Queen of the Rodeo - whick Vakka's been too lazy to learn (just kidding Lou). WHEW, what a weekend - played unplugged on Thursday, saw Rush on Friday, then played Saturday. But now were off again for a little bit - people don't go out to clubs too much in the summer. But keep checking back for details on this huge outdoor show in LI and other upcoming shows!
8/4/04 - Whole bunch o' updates! - Ahhhhh, that was a nice break, but we need to get back out there and start stomping some more so... this Thursday (after practice), most of us are heading over to Big Mike's in Pelham for the Acoustic Open-Mic Jam. I'm sure we'll do some Alice tunes, but we may throw some other stuff at you too. So get down there early and check out J.T. & Bobby and have a drink or a bite. Then on Saturday we're back at Double D's (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) in Morristown, NJ. We're playing with Metallica monsters (and no therapists needed!) Master Of Puppets - they're opening, at 10:00 sharp, and then we'll hit about 11:30, but again, get there early and check out some of the scenery next door! The next show after that is somewhere on Long Island on August 28th. The details are still being nailed down, but it's going to be a HUGE oudoor Tribute Fest sponsored by 98.5 The Bone! Keep checking back here or 98.5 The Bone for more details on this spectacular show. September we're back at The Wreck Room on the 11th with our good friends buck3eighty - if you haven't seen these guys you're missing out on the best original, good old Rock-n-Roll band out there - period! Then we're out in LI at The Wildwood Bowl on the 18th for a Grunge Tribute show. We'll be playing with Riot Act, the tight Pearl Jam show featuring our good pal Ray on Drums, SuperUnknown from Massachusetts doing the best Soundgarden/AudioSlave show around and a Nirvana tribute called Territorial Pissings. There is also an update to the PICS with Mike and Jim Crowley (our Head of Security) with "über-producer" and Deep Purple bass player, Roger Glover as well as a picture with Guitar God and current Deep Purple-ist, Steve Morse. We've also added a few songs back in to the setlist - Sunshine, Love Hate Love, I Know Somethin' 'bout You, and a few others. Feel free to let us know what you'd like to hear - we'll give it a shot! So here's a wrap-up of today's lessons:
Thursday night
- Big Mikes - Acoustic FACELIFT
Saturday night - Double D's Morristown, NJ - FACELIFT & Master Of Puppets
(& pasties!)
August 28th - Spend the last real weekend of the summer with FACELIFT on LI
(details coming soon!)
September 11th - FACELIFT - Wreck Room w/buck3eighty
(AMAZING Originals!)
September 18th - FACELIFT - Wildwood Bowl w/Soundgarden, Pearl Jam & Nirvana
Tributes
7/9/04
- Back in Westchester again - sort of... - Mike & I went down to Pelham
to Big Mike's Pelham Bar & Grille to check out our buds Bobby D and J.T.
doing the acoustic open-mic jam. They are there every Thursday and encourage
people to come and jam. Blues, Rock, Pop, Folk - anything! So Mike, Bobby, J.T.
& I ran through a few Alice classics - Down In A Hole, No Excuses, Would
& Rooster. Here are a few pics! Thanks to Bobby D, J.T. & All the fans
at Big Mike's! I also updated our "downloadable" Press Kit (PDF file),
to include new information, pictures and our full performance rider, check it
out HERE. Oh yeah, and in case anyone didn't notice
- FACELIFTLIVE.COM hit 100,000 visitors!!!! That is an amazing feat, and we
truly appreciate each and every one of you!! THANK YOU!!!
6/12/04 - Back in Westchester!! - It is so nice to play this close to home! And although we were tighter than "10 pounds of sugar in a 5 pound bag" it was a great night. Check out the pics HERE. White Plains has a SERIOUS scene going on between Kelley's, Thirsy Turtle & The "Patio" in the back. We had a blast and are looking forward to being back there later in the summer. We're off for July, vacations and such, so everybody have a safe and fun month, and we'll see everyone back at Double D's in August.
6/1/04 - Memorial Weekend update!! - Hopefully everyone has recovered from the weekend... what a blast we had!! Friday night at the Wreck Room turned out really good considering it was a Holiday weekend. We have to thank the guys in Just Ask and Joe - the Sound Guy for doing a great job all around (PA & Monitors) It makes our job SO much easier when we have good people behind the boards. I put up a few pics from that night of us jamming with Kenny from buck3eighty - thanks to Frank & Rich for coming out too. If you haven't seen buck3eighty, you're missing out on the best original act out there! Then Saturday night us and Master Of Puppets stormed into Double D's and rocked the shiat out of the place!! Apparently someone was videotaping the show so I should have some clips up soon, and click HERE for pics. Then, we headed over to the "other side" at Double D's to take in the lovely ladies ;) Caroline has a very well run and organized club there. Gotta also throw out HUGE thanks to our old buddy, drummer and pal, Tommy - he was hittin' hard on Friday for "Love, Hate, Love" and we would have had him up on Saturday, except he was too busy giving away all his money next door, a dollar a time!! If any bands are looking for a kickin', solid, reliable drummer Tommy is available - oh and ladies, he's almost single again!!! Next show, were staying close to home in White Plains at Kelly's on Friday June 11th, plus were adding new shows all the time!! Don't forget - we have new Hats & Shirts available - get 1 of each for $30, or $15 for the shirts and $20 for the "Flex Fit" Hats!
5/17/04
- New Shirts & Hats, Memorial Weekend & Other newsbits... - Finally!
The stars have aligned and we now have new FACELIFT T-Shirts & Hats. The
T-Shirts are $15 and the Hats are $20, but you can get a "Combo" for
only $30!! These T-Shirts feature a "Motorcycle" inspired look and
are VERY high quality 50/50 "Jerzees" brand - very strong, but soft
feel - no cheap shiat! And the Hats are the new "FlexFit" - "One
Size Fits All" type, they look good backwards too. They come in Black with
heavy stitching on the logo. And again, no cheap shiat! Check them out:
FRONT

BACK
(shirt is hanging wrinkled in picture - the logo IS straight!)
Make sure to pick up a "combo" or 2 or 10 to give as gifts to all the FACELIFT fans you know! We'll have them this Memorial Weekend at The Wreck Room on Friday the 28th, and at Double D's on Saturday the 29th. On the 29th we'll be playing with the AWESOME Metallica Tribute, Master Of Puppets. These guys kick some serious ASS, and have garnered some serious respect in the Tribute community - they recently played in the parking lot at Nassau Coliseum the night Metallica played there!! Speaking of MOP, Mike & I were at The Wreck Room this past Friday hanging out with Dave from MOP for the Aquarian Magazine/Roadrunner Records Party to celebrate the release of Slipknot's new album. The first band, Point Blank, was really strong and their guitar player is a MONSTER!!! They did an unbelievable version of "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" - make sure to pick up their CD, Cast The First Stone, at an upcoming show! Then, after a long intermission and 5 minute intro song, came Disasterpiece, the country's ONLY Slipknot tribute - what a wild show they put on, and they really have the look and "act" down. These guys came all the way out from Chicago for this show, and the crazy NJ fans didn't disappoint! Plus it was cool to hang with some old friends, like Bob Stella, Dancin' Larry, Neil from FREAK and Chris and Pete from Aquarian! We'll see everyone this weekend!!
5/17/04 - Rockin' on "Strong" Island all weekend! - We ALWAYS have a blast playing out in Long Island! The fans are totally crazy and really get into the music, we love that! Molly Blooms was an interesting room - a little too narrow for my tastes but... Black Dog opened with their tight 3 piece Led Zeppelin show. Not to be confused with Black Dog from NJ that features members of "Sabbra Cadabra", these guys are LI boys and do the songs more "free form" like Zep used to do live. Thanks to Eric Davis from 98.5 The Bone for all his support of the tribute scene! And mega-thanks to "Chopper" Bill for a great job on the sound. Sunday night we played a Benefit at Club Ritual (aka Club 2686). Although there was light turnout, we took care of business! Also, our old drummer, Tommy, showed up and played on Sea Of Sorrow and Would? - always good to see you brother! There were supposed to be 2Uther bands there, but they wigged out at the last minute - you know who you are - TSK TSK TSK - so we got to play a bit longer! We've got a busy Memorial Day Weekend coming up, so grab your friends, drink a few beers (not too many!) and grill some critters and then go to either The Wreck Room on Friday May 28th or Double D's on Saturday May 29th. The Double D's show 5/29 will be with Master of Puppets, who do an amazing Metallica show, not to mention the "gentleman's" club thats next door ;) Then on June 11th were BACK in Westchester County at Kelly's in White Plains. A lot of you have been asking for us to come back home to Westchester, so make sure you come to this show!!!
5/7/04 - New Shows added! - Check out the SHOWS section for all the latest updated shows! We just added a show at Molly Blooms in Smithtown on Friday May 14. Then on Sunday May 16th we're at Club Ritual for an afternoon benefit show - make sure to come out for a great cause. Call the club for showtime, but it will be in the afternoon. Then make sure to spend at least one night of Memorial Day weekend with FACELIFT! We've got 2 shows that weekend. Friday May 28th is at The Wreck Room - great room, cheap drinks and a great PA (sound) and DJ! Saturday night, May 29th will be at the decadent Double D's in Morristown, NJ. We'll be playing with Master Of Puppets, so get there early to check out this GREAT Metallica show!! On June 11th we return to Westchester, NY (Home Sweet Home!) for a show at Kelly's Pub. This will be a unique show in a more intimate setting. Also, we're working on even more dates as this is being written, so make sure to check back to WWW.FACELIFTLIVE.COM often!
4/19/04 - WHEW, what a weekend, w/pics! - Well this recent weekend is just further proof of how CRAZY this business is! Friday night we hit The Downtown with In Bloom and Superunknown. Now I LOVE playing the Downtown - great room, PA, people, amazing crowd - everything. BUT the club did almost no advertising for this show and it was still a tremendous success - this shows how strong the "Alice" fans really are! In Bloom started off the night - their first show ever - you wouldn't have known! These guys had the tunes down, and the singer/guitarist was singing his BALLS off, you will hear more about these guys. SuperUnknown was next and smoked through a cool set alternating Soundgarden and Audioslave songs. HUGE thanks to Eric Davis from "The Bone" 98.5, Jenn & Jessica Kain, Heidi (AICLethal), Bobby Clarke and his crew, Stew, Nick for the pics and anyone else I forgot. Make sure to check out the pics - there are a lot of crowd shots!! Now onto Saturday night - we were supposed to play Bottom's Up. But when Mike & I got there, it was called Cassidy's and they were having no bands! Feel free to call the club at (718) 728-8680, and tell Charlie he F**ked up!! (Don't take it out on the bartenders, please!) Even the opening band, Warped, showed up! We've been at this for nearly 10 years, and this is the FIRST time a club has changed over within 2 weeks!! Like they needed another Irish bar in Astoria - there is one right down the block from this one - and NO ONE was in either one - OK enough of my ranting. As you can see this is a pretty messed up business where things aren't always what they seem. We sincerely apologize to anyone who went out there only to find out the club wasn't there anymore. Rest assured we do everything we can to make sure these shows go smooth, but sometimes shit happens. Also, if anyone got our recent mailer, the date for the benefit at Club Ritual has been rescheduled - the club is nailing down the new date, and as soon as it's solid, I'll post it.
3/31/04 - Wreck Room wrapup & a personal note. - Again, an unbelievable night at The Wreck Room. That was the hardest we ever worked though. First, buck3eighty came on and were awesome (as they usually are!) But then there was a bit of a twist in the night. The club decided to try out a new band called Screamin Nudes - although they might go over well at places where Dogvoices or The Monster do well, it was the wrong fit for us & buck3eighty. So we had to play our asses off to rebuild the energy in the room, and the fans did not dissapoint either! Thanks to all the lovely ladies who danced for Nutshell & Down In A Hole - I'm glad were able to do that again!! Our next few shows will be out in the Queens/LI area so check SHOWS for the latest! On a personal and sad note, I just want to acknowledge the passing of the greatest musician I ever knew personally. My Grandfather, Julio Jimenez Sr., passed away last week at the young age of 101. He could pick up any piece of sheet music, and just play it like he knew the song for years! One of my best memories of him playing was the time I made him play "God Of Thunder" by KISS on piano from a sheet music book of Destroyer that I had. And it ROCKED!! You'll be missed Grandad... TJ
3/9/04 - Upcoming Shows & 100 Proof pix! - I'd just like to thank Suppa, Scott, Lisa, Tina, Roger, Patty, Stella, Ralph, Steve, Marty, Elaine (aka Mrs. Moova Groova) and all my friends for coming out in the bad weather to see 100 Proof. We haven't played a show in a long time, but a great time was had by all. And because the show was such a success, there may just be more 100 Proof dates in the future. I'll post any dates here. Click HERE for a few pictures from the show. FACELIFT is going to be very busy as March ends and April begins - we'll be in NJ, Queens, and 2 shows on LI. Check the main page or SHOWS for the schedule. But remember to always check back for last minute updates or schedule changes. This Rock-n-Roll business can be flaky sometimes!
3/9/04 - News and Shows UPDATE! - This past weekend the guys in FACELIFT were out and about checking out some of our friends' bands. Friday night I went to The Wreck Room to check out Master of Puppets - The Metallica Tribute. These guys really have the sound down, and singer sounds exactly like Hetfield!! Livewire, the AC/DC tribute, opened up for MOP and were in top form. Keep checking back for some upcoming shows with FACELIFT and Master of Puppets together - a lethal combination!! Then on Saturday, Suppa and I went to P.J.s in Baldwin Place, NY, to see our buddy Steve "Budgie" Werner (from Ace Frehley's band) with his "covers" band, Snappahead. We had a great time at P.J.s hanging out with Jay & Julie from Callous, and Joy kicked some serious butt on Man In The Box! Snappahead plays all the latest hard rock and peppers the set with classic hard rock gems like Bad Company & Iron Maiden. If you live in the Westchester NY County area, you gotta check these guys out!! Also speaking of cover bands in the Westchester area, Tony has gotten his old buddies from 100 Proof together for a "One-Time Only" show on Saturday March 20th in Stormville, NY. 100 Proof was best know in the early 90's as being a hard working, hard partying, hard playing covers band. And the time that has passed hasn't changed that one bit!! 100 Proof plays the best Classic Rock as well as some Southern Rock with a Hard Rock spin on it! 100 Proof is: (me)Tony Thunder - Guitars, Vocals & Keys, Gregory Lane - Guitar, Richie Panetta - Drums & Vocals and Ricky Graham - Bass & Vocals. Make sure to check out 100 Proof, because they don't play that often!!! Also, you never know who might show up to jam?!?! (hint hint)
2/9/04 - A "Wild" night at Wildwood - w/ a few pics! - We were definitely a little skeptical about this show, but it turned out we had no reason be! The Bone ran a great show, and what a unique venue. It's very difficult to describe unless you were there, but it really seemed to work well. We got to play first starting at around 10:30, and proceeded to play 90 killer minutes. Vakka is really picking up the material like a sponge and has the skills to back it up! After us was Mighty VH, wigs, spandex and all the VH attitude. Thanks to our friends: Jenn & Jessica Kain, Dave from Master of Puppets, Eric Davis and "Chopper" Bill for the awesome sound. We'll be back out that way this summer so keep checking back to the site for details on upcoming shows.
2/3/04 - Another new Guestbook - check it out HERE. - I guess the "Forum" type Guestbook wasn't too popular, so... I've setup a new Guestbook, more like the old style that was here. So check it out and post away!
2/2/04 - Another AWESOME night @ The Wreck Room w/pics! - What a great return to our favorite venue - thanks to everyone for coming out and making it such a special night for us! First off, Vakka kicked some major butt - the guy's only been with the band for a few weeks, but has really mastered the songs he's tackled so far. His rock solid timing and attention to detail has really made him a good fit. Our good friends from buck3eighty opened up for us, and as usual, they ROCKED. These guys are real tight and have great songs. You MUST go and see them, and get thier CD, you will not be disappointed. No "Nu-metal", no "scratching" - just straight ahead, "kick your ass", Rock & Roll!!! buck3eighty singer, Ken came up and sang Would? w/Jimmy, while Bobby Devlin filled in on Bass so Elmer could go out in to the crowd and get a fresh beer. Of course huge thanks to the staff at The Wreck Room - the bartenders, the sounds guys, DJ and owners are all great to us!! There were of course the "usual suspects" in attendance - always great to see you all, but we also had some new "victims". Thanks to Dave & Fu for getting Zigarelli to come out - I really appreciate you guys making it out! Check out pics HERE from the show, they were taken by Mike "The Roadie". This weekend (2/7) we're (waaaaayyyy the "F") out on LI at Wildwood Lanes. As of right now, we're playing with a Van Halen tribute, Mighty VH. Remember when 'Chains toured w/Van Halen??? Check the club's website for directions and updates.
1/26/03 - New Drummer Practice Pics & New Shows Added! - Presenting.... Vakka, the new drummer for FACELIFT. You can check out some pictures from a recent practice here. Vakka played on tour with Less Than Jake and The Toasters. Oh and ladies... He's SINGLE! Please make him feel welcome! Check out the rest of his bio HERE! Also we added a show at Wildwood Lanes in Riverhead, LI - I know, I know, a Bowling Alley all the way out at the end of LI??? First of all a lot of bands are playing there this Winter, including a ton of Tributes and Randy Jackson from Zebra! Also, we've got a lot of fans out on LI. So come on out and check out FACELIFT in this unusual setting. At this time, were playing with Mighty VH a Van Halen Tribute (but we all know this could change).
12/4/03 - New Message Board, Show & Drummer Update!! - The New FACELIFT Message Board Debuts today. Give it a try, just sign up and post away! I promise you will not get any spam by signing up for the Message Board - other than an occaisional FACELIFT related e-mail from me! However, you CAN post anonymously too! We've started adding more shows, and our first show back after the New Year is (of course) at The Wreck Room on Friday January 30th 2004! The last few shows we've seen a lot of new faces and a few of our old friends, but I get the feeling some people abandoned The Wreck Room when the new owners took over. The new owners have been very good to us, and have really put a lot into the club - new equipment, redone the stage, more security, same great drink prices, etc... If you haven't been to The Wreck Room yet, you're missing out on one of the great Rock Rooms in the NY-Metro area! If you haven't been in a while, give it another try - even if we're not playing!! We're also working to get back out to Long Island! We've got some really CRAZY fans out there, and we want to get back out there SOON! Our search for a new drummer is moving along. We're auditioning 3 guys soon, but there is still time if you are interested. This is a great opportunity for an established drummer who wants to fill out their schedule a little more, or maybe for the weekend warrior who doesn't want to be travelling all the time! Just contact us at the addresses below. Otherwise we'd like to wish everyone a very Happy Holiday Season - from Mike, Jim, Ermes & Tony!
11/18/03 - After 4 years of great service and skin bashing, Tommy has made the difficult decision to retire from FACELIFT to focus on his family and career. We'll miss you brother!!
11/17/03 - Club Cashmere Pics & Year End Update! - We had a really great time (WAY!) out at Club Cashmere - it was a bit of a ride but well worth the trip. The LI fans are so crazy and we totally feed off the energy. We really appreciate everyone sticking around to see us go on late - unfortunately we have NO control over that stuff and we were not happy to be playing that late either, but that's the way it goes sometimes. Thanks to Eric @ The Bone and Paul the owner for trying to keep the rock scene rolling on LI! I've also got some pics that are right HERE. We really enjoyed Hysteria doing thier Def Leppard tribute - that's some hard stuff to do live! And the "Bone Girls" were, well... BONY! Those girls needed a little snack or something!! As we go into the Holidays, FACELIFT will be taking some time off. As soon as any show dates come up they will posted immediately at FACELIFTLIVE.COM!
11/2/03 - Wreck Room Wrap-up! - What can I say? Another EXCELLENT night at The Wreck Room. The new owners are starting to put a lot of work into the place and it really shows! Of course big thanks to everyone who stayed to the end! Street Survivors were AMAZING! Even though the singer bumped Tommy's truck in the parking lot! Thanks to our good friend and NY Rangers fanatic, Dancin' Larry Goodman! Also thanks go out to Dave & Jill Rumohr - it's always great to see you guys!! We'll see everyone in 2 weeks on 11/14, out on LI at Club Cashmere - make sure you get to this show, 98.5 The Bone will be there and we'll be playing with LiveWire the AC/DC Tribute.
10/21/03 - FACELIFT is the featured band on WESTCHESTERROCKS.COM! - I'd like to thank Lauren and everyone at WESTCHESTERROCKS.COM for featuring us on thier website. The website has a wealth of information on bands, clubs and shows in the Westchester area, and also includes NYC and CT venues. Make sure to check it out at: WESTCHESTERROCKS.COM
10/13/03 - Having a "Hoe-down" at Hogs!! - We'll all the NYC fans didn't disappoint, even though you can't smoke in the bars anymore and the Yankees/Red Sox/Don Zimmer fiasco! What a great place to play, and what a fun night! Of course there was the bevy of beauties taking turns dancing on the bar!! It was great to stretch out and do a "full" show. We pulled out a few requests like Rotten Apple, Don't Follow, Real Thing & Queen of the Rodeo, and played for over 2 hours!! Thanks to everyone who stuck around until the end! We'll be back there soon. Next up is the Wreck Room on Saturday, November 1st, but keeping checking back because there are always new dates being added.
9/15/03 - Update & Pics from LI's Downtown! - We have SO many people to thank for a fabulous night at The Downtown in Farmingdale. First of all the Long Island crowd was really nuts and into the show. We're trying to build up a bigger following in LI and you guys are the reason!! The lineup was pretty killer too - My Own Prison doing Creed to a "T", and the singer in SuperUnknown does Chris Cornell proud! What a great club, awesome lights and PA - thanks to George for making our night easy with a great backline - and of course making us sound great! The staff at The Downtown is top notch! Dave Glicker really knows how to put together a great package for the fans and the bands to enjoy! I'd particularly like to thank Elody (I hope I spelled that right) and Christine for the food and drinks. And we cannot forget Medic too!! A lot of friends to thank as well; NIck DeCicco ( our "LI Road Manager" and ladies, he's single!) for the pics, Stew and the crew he brought along - it's always great to see you guys! We really appreciate everyone's support and enthusiasm, and we'll be back on LI real soon!! Make sure to check out all the new pics from the show HERE.
9/8/03 - Rockin' Return to The Wreck Room!! - WOW it was great to be back at the Wreck Room. Even though the club recently changed hands, the new owners were great to us, and are commited to keeping The Wreck Room going strong! It was also great to really stretch out and play for over 2 hours!! We haven't done that in a long time - too long! We were glad to see some of our old friends and some new faces as well. Sorry about 'Sludge Factory', that kid usually has some serious pipes! Special thanks to Long Gone Day, "Dancin'" Larry Goodman, Bryan and the great sound crew at The Wreck Room! We'll be back at The Wreck Room on Saturday November 1st.
9/5/03 - Friday Night Mocks Pics! - I took some new pictures with my new digital camera. These are a little more casual shots - hanging out, sleeping, etc. I took the show pictures WHILE we were playing!
8/24/03 - Friday Night Mocks Rocks! - A great time was had by all at Molly Blooms2 this past Friday night. The spirit of Layne was definitely there, as almost everyone waited around for us to go on. Yeah, it was late (we have NO control over that stuff), but everyone had a great time. And because we were last, we were able to play a little bit longer - which I know has been a problem lately. HUGE thanks to Eric Davis and Johnny "Memnonic" for helping us out and thanks to The Bone 98.5 for all the advertising! Joshua Tree was amazing - they really have the sound down, and LiveWire were their usual energetic selves! The Friday Night Mocks Series has been a great success, and hopefully we'll be at CPI for the Finals!! FACELIFT would like to wish everyone a Happy & Safe Labor Day, and we'll see you all on September 5th at The Wreck Room!!
8/14/03 - New Shows added; including Layne B-Day Show! - JUST ADDED! Friday August 22nd at Molly Blooms 2 in Amityville - for The Monsters of Mock Series. Come out to celebrate the life and music of Layne Staley! We'll also be playing that night with the U2 Tribute, Joshua Tree and LiveWire - the AC/DC show. After Labor Day, were back at our stomping grounds - The Wreck Room in Wallington, NJ on September 5th. Then were back on Long Island on Friday September 12th at The Downtown. We've also got a lot of other shows in the works.
8/5/03
- WE'RE BACK!! The latest news! - After handling some personal issues, we're
all back 100% and ready rock again! We're sorry for the sudden break - some
things are simply beyond our control. Thanks so much for all your concern and
well wishes while we were on hiatus. We're slowly setting up shows again, but
our first show back is going to be CRAZY! The show will be at (of course) The
Wreck Room on Friday September 5th. The new owners are good guys, and are dedicated
to keep this very cool club running for a long time! Do not miss this show!!
There will be some special guests and other "surprises"! The HOTLINE
has been taken down due to inactivity, and the website has now become our primary
method of contact. Club owners/managers can check the E-Mail
page for other contact information. It's good to be back! I told you we weren't
dead!
_______
4/8/03 - M.O.M. 5 Update! - What an unbelievable night!! The weather held off until everyone was able to get to The Vanderbilt. As I've said before Evolution was in top form nailing the Journey tunes - and was a last minute substitution for The Who tribute. Plush put on a WILD S.T.P. show, and I know the girls enjoyed the nakedness!! Riot Act is simply one of the best tributes out there - a lot of energy, and dead-on Pearl Jam sound! LiveWire was interesting... that stuff is hard to sing live, the guitar player did a killer Angus Young!! Thanks to all the fans who stuck around until the end for us - it was a long night and we hope it was worth the wait! Although getting cut off after 11 songs... we were just getting warmed up!! Special Thanks to Larry & Eric for putting together this awesome show, and letting us be a part of it. If you live on LI, make sure you listen to Eric's morning show on The Bone 98.5!! Also special thanks to the great crew and support staff at The Vanderbilt - it is always a pleasure to play there!! And big thanks goes out to Jenn Kain for the pictures from the last show, and some new ones (soon hopefully) from the recent show! For a bigger dose of FACELIFT on Long Island, make sure you get to The Village Pub on June 14th. We'll be playing there with a Nirvana tribute. See everyone at The Wreck Room on May 17th!!
4/8/03 - MONSTERS OF MOCK#5 just added! - We're totally psyched to be heading back to the Vanderbilt for The Monsters of Mock #5 on April 25th - presented by 98.5 The Bone & Strong Island Productions. Make sure all you Long Islandeers come out to support FACELIFT and all the other tributes. So far (lineup could change) we got: our buds from Riot Act (Pearl Jam), Who's Next (The Who), Plush (STP) & LiveWire (AC/DC). Tickets are available at Ticketmaster & the Box Office at The Vanderbilt. Get your tickets early - the last Monsters Of Mock #4 was nearly sold out!!! Not to mention, The Vanderbilt is a beautiful, well run and reasonably priced place to see us or any band!
3/27/03 - New pictures are up NOW!! - We've got some new pictures up in PICS. There are some pictures from the Wreck Room show on 3/15, the Vanderbilt on 3/21, and a FACELIFT Exposed picture (Under Misc. Pics) that will have everyone talking! Please take some time and check them out. Also, I know there were people taking pictures at all 3 of our most recent shows - send them to ME!!! Even if they're a little older - we're always looking for new pictures to share!
3/24/03 - YEEEEEHAAAAAWWW!! What a weekend!! - WHEW - We're just now catching our breath after a totally WILD weekend of shows! Friday night was "The Monster Bash" at The Vanderbilt! This place was like Madison Square Garden for us!!! HUGE room, HUGE stage, HUGE dressing room!!! Everyone there treated us great, it was a total pleasure for us! Our buds in Riot Act started the night with their killer Pearl Jam show, and we especially enjoyed Fritz & The Side Effects! Evolution was dead on - I think they kidnapped Steve Perry and have him singing for them - great band! Thanks to Larry & Eric for putting the show together and running it so well. Then, there was Saturday night at Hogs & Heifers. What can I say? Just an unbelievable vibe and energy in the room - the place was packed!!!! Nemesis softened up the crowd for us with a killer set of "evil" and "butt-shaking" music, and then we were up to play. The stage was a lot smaller than were used to - A LOT SMALLER!!!. We were like 10 pounds of sugar in a 5 pound bag, but it made the show more intimate - with fans standing just inches away from us. It was a wild night - anyone who was there will tell you - the bartenders were hysterical, and were messing with Jimmy all night. Things went so well, that we already booked another date there - May 24th - should be another wild show you will NOT want to miss. I gotta thank a bunch of people - Bobby Clark & Anthony for coming both nights!!!, "Stewie" and Joe aka "Scab", Meredith aka Merry Death, Dancin' Larry (of course), Mike M. for being the best roadie/guard dog we could ask for, Bobby D for everything he does for FACELIFT, Amy & the other lovely ladies that helped us out on Down in a Hole, and of course all of our great fans!!!!
3/21/03 - Highlander show cancelled!! - Again, you gotta love this biz!! Sorry to our Westchester fans but this show was cancelled.
3/18/03 - Vanderbilt March 21 - UPDATED LINEUP! - Ahhh, you gotta love this Rock-n-Roll business! The show this Friday at The Vanderbilt is now called "MONSTER BASH" and features us, Riot Act (Pearl Jam Tribute), Cold Shot (SRV Tribute), Evolution (Journey Tribute), Fear of Fred & Fritz O'Hara & The Side Effects. If you bought tickets for "Tribute to Grunge" they WILL be honored, so don't FREAK OUT! Make sure to get there early for Riot Act!
3/17/03 - Happy St. Patty's Day & Wreck Room Wrapup! - A Happy St. Patty's Day to all our fans - keep it safe! What a night at the Wreck Room - the place was PACKED, the PA was sounding great, Riot Act was tight - what else could you ask for?!!??! We got a few pictures coming soon, and I know some of you took more - e-mail them to ME!!! Thanks to Dancin' Larry for the help on Angry Chair, and Adrianne, Deidre and all the other lovely ladies who helped us on Down In A Hole!! We'll see everyone this weekend at The Vanderbilt for "Tribute to Grunge", tix are available at Ticketmaster, presented by The Bone 98.5 and Strong Island Productions. Or we'll see you Saturday at Hogs & Heifers right off the FDR in NYC!
3/13/03 - Vanderbilt March 21st - "Tribute To Grunge" Show Just Added! - We just finalized this show, and it looks to be KILLER!!! First off, The Vanderbilt is a great room, really big, with awesome lights and PA!! The lineup is also KILLER! There will be a Soundgarden Tribute, S.T.P. Tribute, and our buds from Riot Act - The Pearl Jam Tribute. All of our "Strong" Island fans have been asking for us to play this place - so you all better be there!! Tickets are $10 and are available at the door or through Ticketmaster.
3/3/03 - FACELIFTLIVE.COM Guestbook is (finally) back up!- Yeah, I know it took a while, but the new guestbook is better and has a few more features. So please check it out by clicking the "Guestbook" link to the left. Or you can click HYAH.
2/25/03 - FACELIFT is the Featured Band at Westchesterrocks.com! - This week (2/23-3/1) FACELIFT is the featured band at www.westchesterrocks.com. This site has been up for over a year now and heavily promotes the Westchester County (NY) area band scene. THANKS!!! Also, due to problems beyond our control, the March 8th show at The Cup Complex has been postponed until April. Keep checking back for updates!! More Beetlejuice pix coming soon too......
2/13/03 - Highlander pics w/Beetlejuice! - Go to the Pics page and check out a few pictures of Beetlejuice jammin' with FACELIFT. A picture is worth a thousand words....
2/6/03 - L'Amour show postponed - sorry. - Unfortunately we had to reschedule this show. Keep checking back for the new date! Next show is March 16th at The Wreck Room in Wallington, NJ We'll see y'all there!!!
2/3/03 - Highlander ROCKS!!! Beetlejuice JAMS!!! - Just when I thought the Rock scene in Westchester was dead, along comes the Highlander to kick everyone's ass! We had a blast at The Highlander for our 500th show. Thanks to ALL the fans who came out - there were a lot of old friends to celebrate with us, as well as (hopefully) some new ones. Of course the night got started off with Beetlejuice introducing us. We played a few songs, but then Beetlejuice got up and joined us on Guitar and Vocals for 'Man In The Box'. But Beetlejuice was just getting warmed up, he stayed up there and played for most of the set. He totally ROCKED! There will be pictures up very soon! Thanks to Beet, and his crew: Sean, Boo, Jaime & Puppet - thanks for not getting naked!! These guys have a DVD out, and it is the funniest, most unbelievable video I have ever seen! I also have to thank Bobby D. for ... well, everything!!! I'm having a little trouble with the new hosting company and the guestbook, as soon as I get it straightened out, you'll be the second to know. Thanks for your patience.

1/27/03 - Club Blue update & FACELIFT's 500th Show! It sure was great to get back out to "Strong" Island!! The fans are the best and are total Alice In Chains fanatics! We enjoyed the "velvety" ambiance of Club Blue. It's a good room, that totally supports all the local tribute acts, and has trippy lights and a solid P.A. We hope to be back there in the Spring. This Saturday, February 1st, is a very special night... FACELIFT will be playing our 500th show!! Please come out to celebrate this special occasion with your friends in FACELIFT! There will be special guests and other surprises too! Get there early because Bobby's band - Nemesis, will be playing before us. They do all the killer new stuff!! 1/23/03 - News on upcoming shows... We have a lot of shows coming up in the near future. But I wanted to make sure everyone knew about 2 special ones! First is our premiere appearance at Club Blue in Rocky Point, NY. This is a great room that is very dedicated to Tribute Bands, they also have a DJ between sets. For more info on Club Blue check out: www.partyatblue.com. Then the following week is a very special show for FACELIFT. Saturday February 1st at The Highlander in Yonkers, NY will be FACELIFT's 500th Show! It's hard to believe, but it is! Please come out to celebrate with us. The Highlander is now co-owned by Bobby Devlin, who fills in on bass for FACELIFT when Ermes isn't feeling well - he even filled in once for Jimmy in an emergency! Bobby's band, Nemesis, will be opening, plus there will probably be some guests players around for a big jam at the end of the night! So to our LI fans, we'll see you all this weekend at Club Blue! And to our Westchester fans, we're looking forward to giving you our 500th show! - and 500 more!!!!
1/19/03 - Tearin' it up @ The Wreck Room. Thanks to EVERYONE who came out to the Wreck Room on Friday. You all got there late! Our buddies from buck3eighty did a killer set, to a partially packed house. But by the time we got up there (around 12:15!) the place was totally PACKED!!! Awesome night! Thanks to the dudes who came up to play 'Would?' - it gave me and Elmer a chance to listen from the audience and take a little break. I know you guys were in a band that opened up for us once - but I apologize for not catching your names- good job! Also, I'm sorry, but the Guestbook is still out of commision, I'll update the main page when it's fixed. Thanks again for your patience! Hope to see everyone at Club Blue this Saturday.
